i noticed these parallels and i feel obligated to point them out
adora’s childhood trauma makes her act in a way (trying to show her usefulness by taking control of the situation and protecting her friends from harm) that feeds into catra and glimmer’s insecurities (feeling held back and that others lack faith in them and their ability to hold their own), so they lash out at adora in a way that further feeds into adora’s insecurities (she’s a failure and everything bad happening is all her fault), which makes her even more desperate, which makes them push her further away.
it’s shitty because adora loves them SO MUCH, and they love her back, and it really boils down to the fact that all three of them have self-worth issues and are just struggling to prove themselves to the world and to each other as being someone of value, but they also absolutely SUCK at communication, so they can never talk about their feelings in a healthy way.
On a serious note, can we talk about how brilliantly composed season 4 is? From shot composition to the animation to the music to the voice acting? The little details, the symbolism in everything? SPOP has always been good, but WOW this season came and killed the game.
anyway, here’s some quick she-mara edits because i actually really like this season and don’t want my girl to go around looking like an ‘other girls’ meme!
I hid my post last night in the tags of it but actually this is important. I know we’re all excited for nonbinary rep and everything but I seriously thought we were past the point of celebrating shapeshifters/nonhumans/etc. as nonbinary rep I seriously thought that we were all smart enough as a community to stop worshipping shows just for having shitty rep but you guys really just see a character that’s literally called a goblin, is skinny and androgynous, is a shapeshifter, and does not look human at all and you think that its peak representation just because you have a rotted brain. And holy shit stop calling them a fucking lizard.
